Boovability "lady at Dawn" Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2013

This wine is like the sequel to Juliette, in other words it was our next attempt at making a wine of lightness and femininity, hence the image of a lady at dawn - get it?! Making Juliette taught us a lot about the direction we needed to take and in Lady at Dawn we knew to push the boundaries even further. I particularly like the way the label glows with its pallet of reds and oranges, just as the iron-rich soils of Mount Torrens Vineyard (where the grapes are grown for this wine and Juliette) also radiate similar colours at dawn and dusk. For this wine we moved to machine harvesting the fruit to minimise extraction and liberate aromatics without the downward weight of stalk inclusion. This wine really helps to shatter the paradigm of South Australian Shiraz fruit-bombs!

Boovability Lady at Dawn Shiraz 2013, reviewed by Gary Walsh for The Wine Front, April 2014: “Beautiful bottles, and now it seems, they have a website. Ta da! Blackberry, stone fruit, floral perfume, pepper and sweet stalkiness. Medium to full bodied, dark cherry and spice with a slippery feel and fine grained tannin – meat and Turkish apricot – mouth perfume and plenty of length. Very composed. Acidity just so and supple tannin pushes the finish along really well. Engaging.” 93 POINTS. Drink now-2020.
