20 dollars: Boovability "Chateaubriand" Rylstone NSW, Petit Verdot 2015
THIS ITEM IS ON SALE: IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT THE SALE PRICE WHEN BOUGHT IN A MINIMUM 12-BOTTLE ORDER, EITHER AS A STRAIGHT OR MIXED CASE WITH OTHER WINES CURRENTLY COVERED BY THE SAME SALE PROMOTION
Chateaubriand is back in vintage 2015 and made from Petit Verdot grown in Rylstone NSW and is fully preservative-free. It has a dense ultra violet/purple hue, volcanic aromatics of berry fruit and wild minerality and lashings of tannin! Only 170 cases made.
The concept behind the wine is that I started with the painting of the great poet and soldier François-René de Chateaubriand (the one reproduced on the label), the father of the back-to-nature movement and a man known for his wild intensity, and used it as the model or inspiration for the wine that was made to be equally raw and passionate as the man himself. If you like the painting, there's a good chance you'll like the wine too!
According to Mike Bennie, one of the 3 resident gurus for Australia's leading online wine review publication www.WineFront.com.au: "Bright, juicy, gluggable and fiercely fresh and crispy. Spicy red and black cherry fruits to sniff on, light, crunchy and drenched in lacy tannins. Finishes long enough to get the palate cut and reset, with some mouthwatering peppery tang to close. Ripper drinking. Hopefully a bottle crosses your path soon!"
