Chateau Coutet, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2015
Château Coutet ("coo-tet") is a wow-wine right from the gun: elegant perfume but dark and facetted with huge aromatic breadth: definitely monster fruit buried there in the core but armoured with with layers of cedar, oak, smoke, and earthy notes. Smooth, rounded, and fine but ultra serious mouth-filling structure with a balance that nails the drinking sweet spot. A panther of a wine with sultry smoothness and satisfying, 20-year cellaring oomph. Averages 4.2 on Vivino. Drink now to 2040.
