Chateau Teyssier Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2012 Merlot Cabernet Franc blend
Chateau Teyssier is owned by Jonathan Maltus, one of the most controversial winemakers in Bordeaux because he has turned his back on the establishment and chosen instead to put his customers, rather than his neighbours, first. This means making wines that the locals find almost embarrassingly easy to drink at a young stage in their life, whereas Bordeaux had always - historically - been the wine that took decades to soften up in the cellar. Maltus is not a Saint-Emilion local in any way but his wines have found a family of supporters all over the world because their fruit expression and mid-palate lusciousness is just so maddeningly more-ish. The 2012 is upfront, pure, fresh, delicious and in the prime of its life right now. Drink until 2025. Cheers!
