Clos du Jaugueyron "Haut-Medoc" 2015
This wine has developed incredibly over the last year. I saw it in Margaux at the vineyard with its maker Michel Théron when it had just come out of barrel in September 2017 but now it’s got powerful and layered aromatics that demand decanting while the palate is as soft and strong as silk. It is mouth-filling and smooth but the Cabernet tannin gives it edge and a savoury dry finish. This is majestic Médoc with 20 years ahead of it but utterly enjoyable to drink now: 2015 was that kind of a vintage.
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Petit Verdot, 60/33/7%.
Drinking window: Now to 2040.
Closure: Natural cork
