Domaine de Bila-Haut "Occultum lapidem", Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2013
I worked as cellar manager at the Bila-Haut winery in 2007 and was blown away by the wild terroir of the vineyards that besiege the medieval village of Latour de France in the region known as Catalonia, a dramatic place where the snow capped mountains of the pyrennees serrate the southern horizon while the mediterranean twinkles away out to the east. The wines are virtuoso examples of the simultaneously ripe and savoury.
