le Coeur de Chateau lariveau 2014, Canon-Fronsac
This is Lariveau's icon cuvée and I tasted both the 2014 and 2015 versions of it when I was in Bordeaux in July. I should point out that I am somewhat biased against2014s in general because so many I have tasted from other parts of Bordeaux have been lean and unattractive so I was psychologically ready to prefer the 2015....but this 2014 floored me! I tasted the 2015 and 2014 Coeur de Lariveau next to one another, over and again, and I just couldn't avoid the conclusion that, while the 2015 was rich, the 2014 soared with Vosne-Romanée lift above a tight and compelling palate. This is an amazing wine that pulled off the impossible in a very challenging vintage. Drink now to 2035+.
