Senesi Aretini Chianti 2016
Good Sangiovese expression, fruit intensity and complexity. Nails traditional Chianti style with a respectable degree of class. It never ceases to amaze me that even with inexpensive wines like this, Italian wines still taste so distinctively Italian. That might sound like a trite observation but, in contrast, Sangiovese grown in Australia never looks remotely Italian to me, no matter how good or expensive it might be. Conversely, this one might not cost the Earth but it looks like Chianti to its bootstraps. Drink now to 2021.
