Monmousseau Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Phenomenal white for the price. Want to drink Sancerre-quality Sauvignon Blanc for half the price then this is the wine for you. Perfectly formed Sauvignon aromatics without any unpleasant grassiness or over-the-top passion fruit flavours – classic Sancerre type aromatics, in other words – with a palate that is light, very crisp indeed, long and satisfying. Absolutely textbook French Sauvignon Blanc. It’s basic but damn good and really quite serious for the money. Very highly recommended. Rates 3.8 on Vivino but people tend to mark DOWN inexpensive wines and white wines too so I personally interpret 3.8 as a 3.9/4.0 average (or thereabouts once bias has been taken into account) and that is a glowing endorsement.
