Chateau du Cedre Marcel Malbec 2018 from Cahors
If you just open this and pour, it can be quite simple to begin with, but give it some air and it grows wonderfully in stature to fill the decanter or glass with a rich perfume of dark fruit and spice. The palate is medium-bodied with Malbec's trademark tannin structure. It's under screw cap which probably explains its initial reticence but all it needs is a little air to fire it right back up. This is classic Cahors from its most lauded producer, under a knockabout label, but its serious savoury credentials are clear to taste. A really lovely wine to drink from now to 2025. 13%.
