Chateau Haut-Bergey Pessac-leognan Bordeaux 2006
Scored 91/100 by Robert Parker: "Consistently one of the top, under-the-radar wines of Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Bergey’s beautiful 2006 boasts a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a classic bouquet of hot rocks intermixed with graphite, cassis, incense, and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied with noticeable but sweet tannin, impressive purity, and an alluring texture."
My own tasting note was: "Dark ruby colour for a 14-year-old, aromatics are earthy and evolved, leather and mushrooms, woody cologne, and yet in the background there's a clear fruit note too, gooseberry-like, while the palate is very firm, tight, and long. The palate needs more time and has the clear potential to last another decade or more. But if you don't have ten years to wait, make sure you send this in to bat with some bloody serious protein! 13% Cork. Drink now to 2030++
