TOB exclusive import: Ferraton Pere et Fils Hermitage les Dionnieres 2016 Shiraz
"Les Dionnières" Hermitage 2016.
Made from a single block (name: Les Dionnières) on Shiraz’s holy mountain, Hermitage, which was planted in the 1970s to the mythical Shiraz subtype known as “Sérines”, which is smaller berried and therefore able to give more concentrated wines.
Quintessential Hermitage aromatics with the full blossoming of Shiraz's potential. It is this that I love in Hermitage: its capacity to express every dimension of Shiraz from the profound fruit depth through to the myriad kinds of spice that it evokes, plus all the more rocky, earthy, savoury, meaty, and animal notes. And this wine nails the style with ease: densely fragrant, ripe but restrained, set amidst a halo of the finest oak. Palate is big and balanced by fine acidity and clouds of tannin. Awesome length. Awesome in general: The whole universe of Shiraz contained in one star of a wine.
